Bio
I am a professional violinist and educator based in Melbourne, with a career spanning performance, teaching, and mentoring musicians of all ages—from beginners through to pre-professional players.
As a performer, I have worked with some of Australia’s leading orchestras and chamber ensembles, and have also performed internationally. Alongside this, I maintain an active teaching practice, working with students across a wide range of levels, including those preparing for AMEB examinations (including AMusA and LMusA), auditions, competitions, and entry into tertiary music programs.
My approach to teaching is shaped by both my performance experience and my belief that music education is about far more than learning notes on a page. I am deeply interested in how students develop as musicians—how they listen, think, practice, and ultimately learn to guide themselves.
I aim to help students build not only strong technical foundations, but also confidence, independence, and musical awareness. A key part of my teaching is supporting students to become their own best teacher over time, developing the tools to solve problems, refine their practice, and express themselves more freely through their instrument.
I also bring a strong focus to performance preparation, mindset, posture, and performance psychology, helping students feel more grounded and confident in high-pressure situations such as exams and auditions.
My work is centered on creating thoughtful, structured, and supportive learning environments where musicians of all ages can grow into capable, expressive and self-directed artists.
Teaching Info
My lessons are designed to support each student as an individual, combining strong technical foundations with thoughtful, expressive music-making.
Alongside violin technique and repertoire, I place a strong emphasis on how to practise effectively. Students learn how to structure their practice, set meaningful goals, and develop consistency—skills that lead to real, lasting progress.
A key part of my teaching is helping students learn how to think for themselves as musicians—to listen critically, solve problems independently, and develop the tools to become their own best teacher over time.
I also integrate elements of performance psychology, posture, and nervous system awareness, helping students feel more confident, grounded, and at ease when they play.
I work with a range of students, including those preparing for AMEB examinations (including AMusA and LMusA), auditions, competitions, and entry into tertiary music programs, as well as students who simply want to deepen their playing and musical understanding.
Lessons are supportive, focused, and tailored to the student’s level and goals—whether they are just beginning or working at an advanced level.
My aim is not only to help students play well, but to help them become confident, independent and expressive musicians.
