Bio

I am a Melbourne based guitarist and bassist and have been playing and studying for 11 years across electric/acoustic guitar and bass.

I’m currently in my third year studying Jazz & Improvisation on guitar at Monash university, with a focus on performance, improvisation, theory and ensemble playing.

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to study with some of Melbourne’s leading jazz guitarists, including Craig Fermanis, Hugh Stuckey and James Sherlock. These teachers have had a major influence on my playing and understanding of the instrument.

Outside of my studies, I actively perform on both guitar and bass. I play bass in 40th Parallel and have performed at gigs throughout Victoria and interstate. I also have experience accompanying other musicians and performing in a range of ensemble settings.

Teaching Info

Lessons are tailored to the student’s experience, interests and goals. Depending on the student, lessons can cover technique, chords and scales, songs and repertoire, music theory, improvisation, ear training, reading, rhythm and accompaniment.

I want to keep lessons practical, using songs and music the student is interested in to introduce new concepts and develop their playing. I can also help students establish an effective practice routine and give them clear material to work on between lessons.

Lessons are held at my home in Ringwood East, where I have the equipment needed for both guitar and bass lessons. I can also travel to students in surrounding suburbs by arrangement. Lessons are in person only.
