Bio
I am a music teacher, composer, songwriter, and record producer.
Alongside teaching, I work as a singer-songwriter and screen composer. As an artist, I have collaborated with leading producers, fronted two alternative rock/pop bands, recorded four studio albums, and performed extensively, including at music festivals and on national television and radio.
My current solo project premiered at the Melbourne Recital Centre in 2021, and I recently presented a new work for string quartet at the National Gallery of Victoria.
My screen composition work includes projects for ABC, Isuzu, Respect Victoria, Jalna, iSelect, Hapoel Jerusalem B.C., and the Sinfonietta Beer-Sheva Orchestra. In 2023, I was nominated for Best Music for Short Film at the APRA Screen Music Awards for Scorpion Ascent. I also collaborate closely with Production Alley Studios as Music Director and Resident Composer.
I have been teaching music for 15 years and run a private studio in Caulfield North, offering lessons in guitar, songwriting, music production, mixing, and composition. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Composition from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and a current Working With Children Check.

Whether you’re learning music for the first time, returning to it after years away, or developing your work as a songwriter, producer or artist, sessions are tailored to support long-term musical and creative growth.

Sessions are available online or in person at my music studio in Caulfield North and are suited to students, songwriters, and emerging artists seeking a thoughtful, creatively focused approach to music.
Additional workshops, recording projects and artist development programs are offered throughout the year for selected students.

Flexible, patient, fun guitar teacher
My son, 10, has been learning with Nir for over a year, and through the pandemic. Whether the lesson is face- to face or via zoom Nir is patient and calm during his teaching. He takes his time always asking my son if he understands! He is instilling a love of learning music and an understanding that practice is important. He emails my son with tasks and follows through when my son emails him! He chooses songs appealing to my son so that’s always motivating. Highly recommend Nir.

Talented, warm and professional
Nir has been teaching my 8yo daughter guitar the past 18mths (including remotely through Covid lockdown!). He’s wonderful – patient, adapts well to my daughter (eg coming up with music relevant to her tastes) and very relaxed. My daughter is the youngest of four children, so I have much experience with a variety of music teachers (piano, violin, cello etc) over the past 20 years.
