Bio

Hi there! I’m Jess and I am a contemporary violinist, registered music therapist and a lover of music and all things creative. I have over 10 years of experience teaching violin to students of all ages. After studying my masters of music therapy, I have been easing myself back into the Melbourne music scene performing my own original music, performing with loops and collaborating with contemporary bands and DJ’s. I love to be part of projects where I can express myself creatively and authentically through my music.

As a teacher, it brings me so much joy to watch my students build their skills and succeed, and I firmly believe in the importance of a positive student-teacher relationship (and a good dose of fun!) as they work toward their musical goals. Throughout my teaching work, I have helped students to achieve high grades in AMEB and ANZCA exams, learn skills in improvisation and composition, learn from the AMEB, ANZCA and Suzuki curriculum, use loops and effects, develop a solid understanding and interest in music theory, and learn pieces from a wide repertoire of classical, jazz, contemporary and traditional styles.

Teaching Info

My lessons are tailored to you or your child’s musical interests, goals and skill level, whether you’re a complete beginner, want to learn for fun, or are working towards exams and performances. For beginners, the lessons will focus on developing a good foundation of technical skills so you can go on to achieve your musical goals – I understand that this is a critical time to maintain interest so I will always strive to teach these skills in an engaging way that resonates with you or your child  Life can be busy and unpredictable so I’m happy to be flexible and adjust my approach depending on where you’re at, and keep the dialogue open so I can best suit your needs.

45 minutes: $70.00

30 minutes: $50.00
