Bio
Drummer/percussionist Alastair McGrath-Kerr is recognised as one of Australia’s leading exponents of Brazilian percussion and jazz drumming. He teaches drum kit and ensemble studies at Monash University, and is an expert in VCE Solo Performance. Alastair holds a PhD in performance/composition from the University of Melbourne (VCA), and has performed and recorded with many of Australia’s leading jazz musicians.
Teaching Info
I’m an experienced and fully qualified teacher, with over 20 years teaching experience, and 20+ years experience as a professional musician. I have guided students through exams (AMEB and St Cecilia), as well as helping students gain entry to tertiary courses (VCA, Monash, ANU).
As well as drum kit, I teach Brazilian percussion and Orchestral percussion, and and am highly experienced in guiding students through VCE Music (all units).
