Bio

I offer outcome-focused intensives for students who want a clear plan, structured progress and real accountability. I take on new students exclusively through two focused pathways:

• For adult beginner/intermediate bassists, I run a 2-hour intensive to prepare and equip students for 6 weeks of practice towards a defined outcome. Students leave with a personalised practice plan and clear accountability to a deadline.
• For high school guitar/bass students looking to focus on recognised exam qualifications, I offer a structured exam preparation pathway towards AMEB Rockschool exams, including tailored feedback and rehearsal/performance practice opportunities.

Lessons are offered in Clifton Hill and/or Fitzroy North, depending on schedule and availability.

Beginner Equipment Package Available – includes bass, amp, lead, tuner and music stand. This is available for you to rent or buy to ensure a smooth start to your bass learning adventure.

2-Hour Intensives
Prospective students often desire to learn a new skill, but feel like they “lack direction”, “need someone to be accountable to”, or “need some structure”. Seeking out weekly lessons with an expert teacher appears to be the solution.

However, spending the time and money on weekly lessons can be a waste if the student is not clear on exactly what to practice, or why they are practicing, in between lessons. Unfortunately, the busyness of life resurges, enthusiasm wanes, and the student finds themselves making excuses for “not having done as much practice as they should”! I’ve seen this many times throughout my teaching life, and definitely felt that I could have helped those students reach their goals more effectively if I was open to a different way of operating.

Of course, weekly lessons are fantastic for those who can fit a new activity into their regular schedule and are happy to commit over the long run. For those who want to focus on a short burst of structured and personalised practice, I have decided to offer 2-hour intensive classes which will include: an assessment of your current level; collaborative goal-setting; tailored exercises; and the creation of a personalised 6-week practice plan, leading up to a clearly defined target (with a deadline!).
