Bio
Jemma Armstrong is a Melbourne based multidisciplinary artist, originally from Perth, WA. She graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Music in classical music, majoring in flute. Her love of music and the arts led to a rich career of music education, children’s songwriting, theatre and television (you may recognise her voice and puppetry skills in the character ‘Hootabelle’ from the ABC Kids show, ‘Giggle & Hoot’). Other performing credits are Andy’s Amazing Adventures (BBC) and Disney’s Winnie the Pooh Stage Adaption national tours. Most recently Jemma performed with Coldplay on their 2024 Australian tour, Music Of The Spheres.
Jemma has been joyfully teaching flute, piano and early childhood music for over 15 years. She runs her own 0-5’s program ‘Jamming With Jem’ at early learning and community centres across Melbourne. Jemma has extensive experience working with students of all ages and abilities, supporting students in exam preparation, ensemble work, aural studies and music theory, and cultivating a lifelong love of music. Jemma has a playful and relaxed approach to teaching, often using fun tactile teaching techniques to keep young students engaged and inspired.

My driving goal is to keep my students motivated by inspiration, by focusing on their individual aspirations, their personal interests, and keeping our lessons novel, fun and creative. My lessons are a lot of fun and I am a very encouraging and supportive teacher. I’m so excited to share your musical journey with you!
