Jessica Lindsay Smith is a Naarm (Melbourne) based performer, composer, and teacher who creates music that crosses the boundaries of genre. Holding a Bachelor of Music from Monash University and a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, Jessica has worked with ensembles within local and international contexts to create music with a focus on vivid colours and unusual sounds.
Her current projects include an art-pop band singing and playing electric guitar alongside composing an opera to be performed with ‘archival footage’ visuals.
Jessica’s work has been performed in a variety of venues such as Arts Centre Melbourne, Ian Potter Museum of Art, The Paris Cat Jazz Club, and Melba Hall. As part of her Bachelor of Music (Composition) at Monash University, Jessica studied chamber music in Italy at the Prato Centre and Verdi Music School.
Jessica has vast teaching experience. Teaching for over ten years, Jessica has experience teaching privately and in a range of public and private primary and secondary schools.
Jessica has over ten years of teaching experience both privately and in public and private schools throughout Melbourne. Jessica has taught VCE instrumental music and seen students through AMEB exams with impressive results! Jessica offers private lessons as they provide the best opportunity for students to receive individualised guidance. There is the possibility for students to come together periodically for performance opportunities.
Jessica holds a Working With Children Check, Police Check, and Advanced First Aid certification. She is also a registered nurse.
Additionally, Jessica offers music theory tutoring, aural training, and Sibelius tutoring to help students reach their goals.
