Bio

Kate Pengelly is an emerging soprano, who is currently studying her Postgraduate Diploma in Music (Opera Performance) at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. At the MCM, Kate performed the role of Suor Angelica (2026), and featured in the ensemble of ‘Die Zauberflöte’ (2023) and ‘Cendrillon’ (2025). In 2025, she completed her Bachelor of Music with Honours (MCM).

Kate found her love for singing in choirs before developing a passion for Opera and Lieder repertoire. In 2023, she performed Dido in VOYCE’s ‘Dido and Aeneas’. In 2024, Kate covered the role of Krystyna Zywulska in Nightingale Opera’s production of ‘Two Remain’ and joined Opera Scholars Australia. Other performances include Soprano Soloist in ‘Faure’s Requiem’ (2024) as well as Victorian Opera’s ‘The Magic Pudding’ (2026), ‘Melbourne, Cheremushki’ (2023) and ‘Il Mago di Oz’ (2022). Kate enjoys sharing her passion for singing with students, helping them reach their goals.

Teaching Info

Kate provides structured and tailored lessons to students, helping them find confidence and a love for music. Classes focus on building musicianship, singing technique, repertoire, and of course having fun!

Kate enjoys working with students of all ages, whether she’s teaching them their first song, or preparing for exams and auditions. She has experience preparing students for AMEB exams, VCE Exams, and professional singing work. Kate also offers beginner piano lessons, and combined singing/piano classes for those who want to further develop their skills.
