Bio

Lawrence Folvig graduated from the Victorian College of The Arts in 2005 with a Bachelor of Music specialising in Improvisation. He has been teaching guitar and electric bass for the past 20 years in a variety of styles working with beginner students through to more advanced players. He specializes in Jazz, Classical and Contemporary Pop/Rock/Folk styles of guitar playing and has performed and recorded with artists such as: Ainslie Wills, Ben Abraham, Clio Renner (Rockwiz), Megan Washington, Georgia Mooney (All Our Exes Live In Texas) and Emily Lubitz (Tin Pan Orange).

In 2018 Lawrence was an APRA ‘Song of the year’ finalist with Ainslie Wills for their song ‘Running Second’ and in 2020 was shortlisted for the APRA ‘Song of the year’ with Ainslie Wills and Paul Dempsey for their song ‘Fear of Missing Out’.

Some of Lawrence’s other specialties when helping others with their musical pursuits are exploring approaches to improvisation and composition as well as music production and sound design techniques. In January 2023, Lawrence released an EP of solo baritone guitar compositions titled ‘Revelate’ which is available on all music streaming platforms. Lawrence is also currently a guitar teacher and music production teacher at Collarts in Melbourne.
