Bio

Hi there! I currently teach cello, double bass and guitar at Cornish College in Bangholme part time as well as private cello. The rest of my time is spent training in martial arts and stage combat (stylised violence for stage and screen) as well as acting and producing my own music and short films, some of which you can find by googling my name or searching my name on YouTube. I have a particular love of teaching beginners as I enjoy introducing students to the joy of cello as well as ensuring a strong base in theory, aural skills and physicality. I am based in Fairfield.

Teaching Info

My teaching style is quite relaxed (I put enjoyment before technical progress) and student guided. I will usually ask if there is any style of music or particular piece the student would like to learn and then use my composition skills to arrange it for their instrument and at an achievable level for them (often writing myself an accompanying part). I also introduce theoretical concepts such as intervals, subdivision and the circle of fifths early on as these are things I find invaluable as a musician and composer. I tend to ask that students purchase the AMEB technical workbook and use this as a base for technical progression and obviously if exams are on the cards the AMEB workbook would need to be acquired as well, otherwise pieces are often an eclectic mix of AMEB, Suzuki, various composers and my own work.
