Lessons are offered to all ages in my home in Werribee within school terms. Students may wish to follow a structured exam syllabus, or learn according to their own preference, such as: Playing by ear, improvisation, arranging from lead sheets, and developing chord techniques.

I teach foundation skills to all students which includes technique, notation and rhythmic reading , chords and harmony, theory, classical, jazz, blues and pop styles. I am experienced with guiding students who wish to prepare for Uni auditions (Jazz/Contemporary).

I’ve had many years of teaching experience both in schools, TAFE, teaching privately, and tailor each lesson to the individual student’s abilities and interests.

I aim to create a happy and positive and stress-free environment for students while also challenging the student to develop their skills from week to week.

It’s “serious-fun”!!

With younger students it is important that the parent attends the lessons and encourages their child to regularly practice between lessons and maintain a  practice diary.

My aim is to find the best way that each student learns, what music they really enjoy, what comes easily to them and what challenges them- every student is so different- there is never ‘one method’.

I am happy to guide adult beginners or returners and have a large repertoire of music that mature learners can enjoy learning. I am happy to support more advanced players studying jazz/contemporary styles in exploring the mysteries of chords and improvisation.

It is important that all students listen to a lot of music and have a real sense of their own musical preferences. I always hope that students have a quality piano or digital piano with a sustain pedal at home to practice on!
