Stephen offers an engaging and personalised program of music tuition designed to inspire every student, from complete beginners to advanced performers. His teaching approach is centred on enjoyment, curiosity, and a genuine love of music.

Teaching Approach

Each lesson is tailored to the student’s interests and goals, whether developing performance skills, preparing for AMEB or VCE examinations, or simply playing for personal enjoyment. Stephen encourages students to explore their own musical voice while building a solid technical and theoretical foundation. Stephen’s students regularly achieve top marks in performance exams, including a highest AMEB Grade 8 score in Victoria.

Lessons are typically held weekly at the Stewart Street studio in Brunswick, featuring a beautiful Yamaha grand piano in a welcoming and creative environment.

Music Theory and Aural Skills

All piano lessons incorporate essential musicianship skills, including theory, aural work, and an introduction to music history, to help students become well-rounded musicians. Advanced theory and analysis tuition is also available, tailored to each student’s level and interests.

VCE Support

Stephen has extensive experience tutoring VCE students, providing expert guidance across all areas of the curriculum: performance, analysis, and aural training. His supportive and structured approach helps students gain confidence, meet assessment requirements, and prepare successfully for university entrance.
