Bio
Tony Yang is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School (Class of 2024). He has spent the past three months in New York and has been accepted to the Manhattan School of Music, along with several other music institutions in NYC.
Over the years, he has dedicated himself to learning the jazz repertoire and performing gigs in Melbourne. Tony Yang was a member of the Melbourne Youth Jazz Orchestra (MYO Senior Band) for two years (2023–2024). He also performed in the VCASS Outstanding Soloist Competition, earning second place. Additionally, he was featured as a solo artist with the Daryl Mackenzie Jazz Orchestra.
He has studied with the renowned Melbourne jazz guitarist James Sherlock for several years and has also trained under New York jazz guitarist Mike Moreno, who currently teaches at the Manhattan School of Music, for the past few years. In addition, he has studied with other Melbourne jazz greats, including saxophonist Tony Hicks and jazz pianist Mark Fitzgibbon.
Lessons can be conducted in Chinese (Mandarin) and English
