Bio
Born and raised in sunny Singapore, Wells is a qualified piano teacher, pianist and concert percussionist with 5+ years of teaching experience and more than a decade of performing experience.
Having taught in some of Asia’s most leading music schools, primary and secondary schools, and in his private studio, Wells has extensive experience working with students of various ages and backgrounds. His students have also achieved 100% pass rates on ABRSM exams with a 95% distinction rate.
Wells is currently pianist and percussionist of the Philharmonic Wind Orchestra (Singapore) and Asian Cultural Symphony Orchestra and a former musician of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Bands and Associate Principal Percussionist of the Philharmonic Youth Winds (Singapore).
With a passion for composition and arrangement, Wells’ works have also been performed and recorded by the SAF Bands and featured at the Singapore Youth Festival in 2023.
Wells is an Associate of the Royal Schools of Music, and also received supplementary education from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music at the National University of Singapore, Stanford Department of Music and Berkeley College of Music.
Teaching Info
All students will receive repertoire that is handpicked for them specifically. If the graded exam syllabus is your intended focus, this repertoire will be provided supplementary outside of exam preparation. Each week, students will also get a set of attainable and individual goals.
I believe that teaching music goes beyond the score and the performance, and is rooted in the trust between the student and teacher. I encourage all students to believe in their capabilities and it is absolutely important to me to create a safe environment for them to express themselves beyond their musicianship.
