Bio

Hailing from Havana Cuba – the music capital of the world – and recently relocated to Melbourne, Yunior Maden is a professional percussionist with a 15 year long career as an internationally touring performing artist, session musician & degree qualified music educator.

Yunior is a bona fide international artist, having been the former contracted conga player for EGREM music award winning orchestra and Timba royalty “Leonel Limonta y Azucar Negra” (Havana, Cuba).

Yunior regularly features in music events and festivals and has played alongside international music personalities including Maykel Dinza, Mandy Cantero (Los Van Van),  Charlie Cruz, Boni & Kelly, Telmary & Habanasana, among others.

Yunior has also collaborated in composing original music with internationally acclaimed classical composer John Psathas (ONZM) and is currently contracted by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (percussion section) to provide professional development services in latin percussion.

Additionally, Yunior is a sought after session musician.  He was recently the contracted percussionist on the debut solo album of Grammy winning artist Mireya Ramos, also working alongside award winning New Zealand artists Troy Kingi, Deva Mahal and Clear Path Ensemble.

Having recently relocated to Melbourne, Australia, Yunior has featured as a musician with local bands Ausecuma Beats and Soulectric.

Teaching Info

Yunior specialises in hand percussion and is an expert in Latin, West African and Pop Music rhythms, as well as Flamenco cajón. He is available for  private and group lessons (conga, bongo, cajon, timbales, minor percussion) in Melbourne, Australia and online via Zoom, WhatsApp or Google Hangouts.
Classes are suitable for students of all levels, from beginner to advanced and from age 6 to 70+
